Tech Multitasking – Does It Make Us More Productive or Just Tired?

Doing multiple tasks at once – multitasking – has become a common habit, especially with the help of technology. We attend Zoom meetings while replying to emails and checking our phones. But is this truly making us more efficient?

Research shows our brains aren’t wired for real multitasking. Instead of handling tasks simultaneously, we’re rapidly switching focus, which uses more mental energy and leads to reduced memory and concentration.

Tech-driven multitasking also contributes to "digital fatigue" – that feeling of being tired at the end of the day without clearly completing anything. The solution is simple: focus on one task at a time, limit notifications, and build regular tech-free breaks into your day.

Less, but focused work – that’s the real key to productivity.
